Energising Maca Smoothie

Maca is another SUPERFOOD that has become popular of late. It is a potent plant originating from Peru that has been used for thousands of years for nourishment and healing.

Benefits of maca:

  • An excellent energy enhancer- It energises naturally
  • Rich in vitamin B, C and E and rich in calcium and iron
  • Aids in reproductive function

-helping to balance hormones

-Increase fertility

-Can decrease menopausal symptoms

  • Can increase bone density- which could be helpful for women who have a family history of osteoporosis

Incorporating Maca powder into your daily diet routine can be an excellent energy enhancer and the pick me up that most of us need in our busy lives.

It comes in powder form and is available in all health food shops. This is the brand that I use. Its from true foods and can be ordered online at truefoods.ie

It can be taken daily in yoghurts and smoothies, included in soups and used in baking.

Alternatively it can be taken as a shot in some water or juice.

It is recommended to take 1 tsp initially and gradually increase to a daily intake of 1 tbsp

Maca has a nutty, butterscotch flavour!!
